Carnival Headquarters and Ships
11/06/2010
Yesterday was a great day at Carnival Headquarters. Did some hands on training on the agent booking site and they are coming out with some new things ot make it easier for agents. We had a great breakfast, snack, lunch and another snack before they took us to a resturant in Mary Brickell Village shopping area in Miami. It was called Dolores, But You Can Call Me Lolita. My friend Cindy who came along with me spent the day shopping and took a sightseeing cruise. She met us at the restaurant and I almost didn’t recongnize her…she had a makeover! Dinner was good and then back to the hotel.
This morning we had breakfast and a short presentation before heading out to the Port of Miami. We went to tour the Carnival Liberty and have lunch on it. This is one of the Conquest class ships and is very nice. For those who have sailed the Conquest out of Galveston, it is the same class ship but the Liberty is decorated more elegant than the Conquest. They have 2 Captain’s Suite at the front corners of deck 9 that are very nice and exclusive to this ship. They served us a nice and lunch then we got off of that ship, back on the bus and then went over to the next terminal to get on the Carnival Destiny for our 5 night cruise to Ocho Rios, Jamacia and Georgetown, Grand Cayman.
We were so late getting on the ship that our luggage was almost at the cabin before we were! If you are in a hurry to get your luggage just get there late and it will be there quick! Our oceanview cabin is nice with lots of room. The storage space is not as adequate as it is on other ships. There is bascially 2 small closets for hanging clothes, 1 with shelves that have the safe and bedding for the sofa bed in it, so basically only 2 of those shelves can be used. There are 3 big drawers and 2 small shelves but the counter space in the cabin is very good. The bathroom is a little outdated with a pink sink area and there is no storage space there at all. The shower is one of the larger ones though.
After the safety briefing, we unpacked then made our way to the Downbeat Lounge where Carnival had a cocktail party for us with drinks and appetizers. Most of the group have 8:15pm dining but 10 of us were at 6:00pm so we headed down after the party. We had a nice table looking out the back of the ship where we saw a beautiful sunset. After dinner Cindy and I headed to she shops, then to get our embarkation photo and finally to the casino. Of course the place was packed but we both left with more than we walked in with!
Tomorrow (Sunday) I have a training class from 9am to 11:30 or 12. Then the rest of the day free!! Lounge chairs by the pool here we come!!! Will write more Monday after the day in Ocho Rios.
