Skagway/Haines
06/24/2010
It rained all day in Skagway! Some people took the White Pass Rail and had a good time. We went over to Haines on the ferry and took a tour out to Chilkoot Lake State Park which is the biggest rainforest in the world! We took a short hike and saw some pretty sites. And the air was so fresh and clean! We had hoped to see a bear but the best we could do was seeing bear poop! So one had been there right before we got there. This was the first time we have encountered mosquitoes. They were everywhere! We did get to see an eagle’s nest and several eagles. We also spotted a man in the middle of the river fishing. I don’t know if I would have been out there—the water was moving pretty good. We stopped at a hall in town and had a sack lunch that was really good. Then we took the ferry back to Skagway. It was formal night so the whole group got together to take a group picture before dinner. Then we all pigged out on lobster! Several people ate 2 or 3 tails!! It was good!!
